BNP Paribas Bank Polska received the Partnership for Sustainability Award 2019 for the best social project aimed at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The initiator of the competition is the UN Global Compact Office in Ukraine.
In the competition of partnership projects between various stakeholder groups to achieve sustainable development among 80 projects from 4 countries, the Polish project BNP Paribas “Energy Efficiency Financing Facility for Residential Buildings” received an award in the Planet category.
The jury awarded projects from the following categories:
- Society (inclusiveness, education, youth empowerment, cultural diversity, gender equality, healthcare, etc.)
- Planet (environment, waste management, green energy, climate change, biodiversity protection, food and water management, sustainable supply chain, etc.)
- Peace (human rights, social security, promoting peaceful dialogue, anti-corruption, etc.)
- Economic development (economic growth, closed-loop economies, sustainable cities, infrastructure, green innovation, community development, etc.)
The project “Energy Efficiency Financing Facility for Residential Buildings” was created by BNP Paribas Bank Polska in cooperation with the European Investment Bank (EIB) within the framework of European local energy assistance, which is a joint initiative of the EIB and the European Commission for the Horizon 2020 program. It is intended for housing associations that want to support the energy efficiency and renewable energy sources of residential buildings (baggage houses) in Poland.
It is important to emphasize that thanks to this project, the BNP Paribas Group, the main shareholder of UKRSIBBANK, will gain additional competencies in the field of energy efficiency in multi-apartment buildings. These competencies will remain with BNP Paribas Group after the completion of the project and the bank in Poland will be able to continue this type of activity, which makes this project sustainable and useful in creating the best practices that will be further used in the market.
